How To Take Care of your Leather

Leather Care

Unlike uniform looking synthetics, leather is a natural material with a unique grain that requires love and attention. Here are a few easy tips on how to care for your Habarie leather bags:

01 Clean

1. Keep the leather clean. Try to brush your leather down
with a damp cloth at least once a week.

2. Use a soft brush to remove dust particles from the crevices of the leather.

3. Do not use any soaps, detergent or hard cleansers. Do
blot away water or moisture as soon as possible. Dry the
wet leather naturally, away from artificial heat.

4. Always do a patch test in a discreet area such as the
inside or the bottom of your bag. Check how the cleaning
solution reacts to your leather.

5. Dip a clean cloth into the cleaning solution and gently
wipe your bag. Avoid rubbing too hard.

6. Allow the bag to dry naturally once you’ve cleaned all
the surfaces.

7. Dry your leather slowly. Drying leather quickly will change its
chemical structure, causing it to become brittle and crack.

02 Moisturize

1. If you find that your leather is starting to dry out or crack it may be time to moisturize the material.

 2. Buy a leather dressing or a leather cream. There are a number of oils and waxes that can help you reduce the cracks and dryness in your leather.

3. Dab a little bit of the leather cream on a clean cloth. Apply the cream on the base or insides of the bag as a patch test.

4. Using gentle circular strokes, rub your entire bag.

5. If you don’t have any leather cream or dressing, you can use any petroleum jelly or a natural oil such as coconut oil. Always do a patch test.

6. It helps to maintain the softness of the leather and help prevent it from cracking. it will increase the life of leather by at least 5 to10 years.

7. Even if you haven’t used your leather item for many years, don’t just keep it stored in a glass display case. You need to dress the leather periodically.

03 Maintain Your Leather

1. Keep leather items out of the sun. The sun will dry the leather out and cause it to become brittle.

2. Keep the items in a cool, dry place when not in use.

3. Don’t keep your leather in plastic either. Removing all air supply from the leather is bad for material.

4. Keep Leather away from abrasives that can scuff or cut it.

5. Add moisture to your Leather.

I’m impressed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s both educative and amusing, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Many people are fond of purchasing leather bags, but doesn’t know how to take care of it. But you explained it very accurately. I’m very happy I came across this during my search for something regarding this.
